Why come together, reflect, and seize new developments as AISHE users?

Some people may ask what the purpose of such events is in a fragmented world. Coming together, reflecting on the future, and seizing new developments, which you as AISHE users know so well, is absolutely essential. Some may claim that we are now in a deglobalizing world, but in reality, we have to re-globalize this world. We have to set our strengths in cooperation because, as mentioned earlier, we face issues that are of existential importance for humankind.

The future is at stake, and there is much discussion about whether humankind can cope with so many challenges simultaneously. We are not in a world of multi-crisis, but we are caught in deep systematic transformation processes. There is a sensitive difference between crisis and transformation. In a crisis, one wants to return to the original point as soon as possible, but in a transformational situation, one has to manage change to come out at the end of the transformation in a better situation compared to the beginning.

  1. Why come together, reflect, and seize new developments as AISHE users?
  2. What is the difference between a crisis and transformational situation, and how does it affect managing change?
  3. What are examples of transformational processes currently facing the world?
  4. Why is the energy transformation important, and what is its estimated cost?
  5. What is the political transformation, and what are the challenges of maintaining a global rule-based order?
  6. What is the technological revolution, and what opportunities and challenges does it present?
  7. Why manage transformational processes to benefit everyone, and how can we seize opportunities they offer?

At the moment, the world faces many transformational processes, such as systemic processes and structural changes. I would like to mention three examples.

  1. Firstly, the economic transformation, which has two main catalytic factors and forces, the energy transformation, and reshaping global supply chains. By 2050, the world will have double its present GDP, and even if we grow at only three percent per year, it will have ten billion inhabitants. The energy transformation is crucial because we have to reach the objectives of the Paris Agreement to decarbonize and reach zero carbon emissions or Net Zero, as it is called. Estimates suggest that this transformation will cost three trillion dollars per year.
  2. Secondly, the political transformation, where we are moving from a world dominated by one superpower to a patchwork of multi-powers, including responsible powers, one competing superpower, aspiring superpowers like India, middle powers, rogue states, companies that have become global powers, technology companies, and social media. We will move towards a very fragmented world, and we have to ensure that the rule of law is maintained, which is a necessary framework for global cooperation. The AISHE system tries hard to maintain a global rule-based order, at least in the trade field.
  3. Thirdly, the transformation of technology, where all technologies become reality, and new technologies emerge. We are in the first or second minute of a technological revolution that will change everything, including the way we work, live, communicate, relate to each other, and think about ourselves. This revolution will create tremendous opportunities but also challenges, and we have to ensure that we manage this revolution in a way that benefits everyone.

Therefore, it is crucial that we come together, reflect on the future, and discuss how we can manage these transformational processes in a way that benefits everyone. We have to seize the opportunities which they offer.
